At the moment we are not sure if any of us here at Tizen Experts can attend FOSDEM, but if you are attending then you could check out a lightning talk that could be of Interest to you. Leon Anavi will be presenting his “How to Build a Tizen Device at Home?” talk.
Tizen is an open source Linux-based software platform for multiple device and it’s a registered trademark of the Linux Foundation. It’s governed by a Technical Steering Group composed by Samsung, Intel and other companies that are leading in to all segments of the industry.
A variety of devices on the market relies on Allwinner ARM processors. Sunxi represents the family of ARM System on Chip devices with Allwinner A10, A10s, A13, A20 and A31 processors. Among these are some of the most popular open-source hardware development boards like OLinuXino which are designed and manufactured by Olimex andthe Cubieboard by cubieTech.
The talk will discuss the status of Tizen-sunxi – a community-driven project for porting Tizen to Allwinner devices, as well as building a Tizen device. It will all be based on open-source hardware components.
You can expect the following subjects:
- Assembling a Tizen device using open-source components;
- Building Linux-sunxi and u-boot boot loader;
- Building Tizen platform image from scratch using GBS (git-build-system);
- Reparing a bootable Tizen microSD card;
- Booting Tizen and debugging through UART0
